Curious what your long lost friends have been up to? Well, they are curious about you too. Send us your story so we can post it here. Send it to Tami Ward Spaulding (see contact us link).
Laura (Kellum) Cudd
Married Richard Cudd ( MHS ' 84) in 1996
3 rambunctious boys, Dylan (8), Ryan (6), and Sean (3)
BS from OU College of Pharmocology class of 1991
MS and PhD from OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in cellular
Physiology/pharmacology in 1996/1999. Currently practicing at the Anticoagulation clinic at Integris Southwest Medical Center in OKC.. part time so I can spend time with my kids while they still like me.
Best Friends still include Leigh Ann Nash Briscoe and Tami Ward Spaulding. Hobbies include running after my kids (or just on the treadmill to be ready to chase kids), gardening, book clubbing and making lemon squares (and other food items).
Most famous person I ever met was Hulk Hogan and "The Rock" while I was a waitress in college at Bennigans...never seen someone that big or eat that much. Favorite memories from high school include traveling to Disneyland with the band, going to U2 for free in Norman with my brother (Jeff Farris, do you even remember the name of the girl you ditched us for?) and running around during summers with Leigh Ann Nash and Tami Ward.
Bio:
After high school, I went to OU, graduated from pharmacy school (with EricBowen, MHS'85) and went to work looking for the American dream and so
on. Became disillusioned (as happiness is not actually found in a new Jeep)
and went to graduate school so I could find a way to cure to world. Alas, just when I wasn't looking, I found the real American dream at my door (okay Mom and Dad's, but that ruins the story). We dated for a few years, got married, had the first of 3 boys and I gave up my plans of finding a cure for "what ails you" in favor of the only job no one else will do...being a Mom.
Tami (Ward) Spaulding
Sr. Class Reporter, 1985
After high school I went to Rose State College and continued cheerleading (they offered a great scholarship). I changed my major many times and had my school efforts and concentration seriously interrupted due to being crazy in love with Mike Spaulding who I married in December 1987. We had our first baby in February of 1989 right after Mike joined the Navy. I managed another year and a half of school, this time at Central State University. Then we began the military lifestyle which included moving frequently. We travelled all over and for awhile had a baby at each duty station. In 1997, Mike resigned his commission in the Navy and we moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where we had two more children. We moved to Norman in 2001 after Mike took a position with the OK Air Nat'l Guard. It's been great to get back to family and old friends. I feel so blessed to have a wonderful husband, nine terrific children, super friends and Jesus Christ, my Lord and my strength.
My hobbies now include: Sewing, scrapbooking, cooking, gardening and watching my children participate in their various activities. I enjoy going to lunch with friends, watching old movies with family , and sharing tea and chocolate with either or both. I spend most of my time homeschooling my children, running to soccer practices and games, fixing meals, trying to keep the laundry in check and generally focusing on keeping our house a home. Am I where I thought I would be 20 years ago? Certainly not! I never could have imagined this. I was going to have a great career and a big paycheck. Am I disappointed with where I am now? Not at all. I am so thankful that time, maturity and the Lord can change a heart. I wouldn't trade where I am for any other position or paycheck in the world. My Lord and my family are my passions.
Two phrases repeated many times as I was growing up have helped mold me into the person I am today:
#1: If you ever find that Jesus is all you have, you’ll find He’s all you need.
As a teenager thinking about my future, I knew I wanted to make choices which would allow me to be open to the Lord’s leading with no regrets. I also wanted to be in a position to provide for my parents as they aged since my father is disabled and my mother does not work outside the home. Having worked in a pharmacy during high school, I set off to Pharmacy school at SWOSU in Weatherford, OK. A test of faith required me to change majors so that I could graduate early, with a B.S. in Medical Technology (aka Clinical Laboratory Medicine). I completed my internship at Mercy Health Center and continued to work as an evening shift technologist for a few years. In 1994, an exceptional opportunity arose in the position of Blood Bank/Transfusion Services supervisor at Midwest Regional Medical Center. Accepting other responsibilities as they became available allowed me the opportunity to install the new laboratory computer system at MRMC. In 1999, I was offered a position at Norman Regional Hospital to maintain the computer system for the laboratory as my sole duty. The following year, I was promoted as the LIS Specialist, where I remain today. I have the best co-worker imaginable (Hi Jason!) and excellent working hours. The events in my career have provided the means necessary to meet my goals as I set out into the world 20 years ago and although there have been struggles, I have felt the Lord’s guidance the entire way.
I have a beautiful niece and nephew who have shown me that the awe of life itself is found within the eyes of children and I spend as much time with them as possible. My immediate family lives within three miles of each other and we’re together often, thus I have everything I have ever needed.
#2: You’ll never know what true happiness is until you get married… and then it’s too late!
The pastor at my home church used to say that all the time and I always thought it was so funny! His wife… not so much. I am drawn to funny people and even attempt a bit of humor of my own every chance I get, much to the chagrin and sorrow of my friends and family. If Ed McMahon ever knocks on my door, I will own a comedy club in Norman- I even have the name picked out, but that’s a secret!
Apparently, my pastor’s statement made a lasting impression. I have never married, which is astounding to all who know me (okay... not so astounding to those who REALLY know me), so it is only natural that I would recall those humorous words heard so often as I was growing up. However, I will say that there is a dowry available for my husband if/when I do decide to marry- the gift includes lifetime monthly therapy sessions with the psychiatrist of his choosing, an endless supply of tranquilizers and a recurring spot on The Dr. Phil Show. If interested, a $50 non-refundable processing fee should be included with each application. Applicants should be SINGLE, STRAIGHT and MALE only, please.
After high school graduation, I enrolled in the basic freshman classes at the University of Oklahoma. I pledged Alpha Gamma Delta which turned out to be one of the best decisions I made that year. In addition to making great friends, one of my sisters witnessed to me and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
In 1990, I graduated from OU with a BS in Mathematics with a Computer Science minor. I went to work for a company called SEMCO that contracted to the Federal Aviation Administration. Three years later, the FAA hired me and I’ve been working as a Computer Engineer ever since. What I really do is design and implement modifications to software for en route RADAR.
The first five years of my job allowed me to travel throughout the United States. One of the most memorable trips was to Anchorage where, after work hours of course, I went white water rafting down the Eagle River.
After the travel opportunities slowed down, I married Donald Megehee (MHS '83, unfortunately that’s Mustang, not Moore) in 1998. No, we don’t have any children or pets, but we do have lots and lots of outdoor plants.
My hobbies include yoga, Pilates, reading, and gardening. The Food Network is helping to add cooking to that list. Donald and I really enjoy traveling around the country sightseeing. We are active in our church, play volleyball and wallyball together, and never miss an OU football home game. (even through the bleak 90’s!)
In 1985, I went from the greatest high school in Oklahoma to the greatest university in Oklahoma (and texas), The University of Oklahoma. I became actively involved in Greek life where I pledged Delta Delta Delta (can I help ya, help ya, help ya?). I completed my undergraduate degree in public relations and lovingly invested more time and money into OU as I achieved a Masters degree in Human Relations.
In 1992, I married the love of my life, Richie Splitt (something I had planned since I was 14 years old). By the grace of God, our daughters’ Sicily (12) and Madison (9) were born into this world and have blessed our lives since. Both children attend All Saints Catholic School in Norman and love everything about it - except their uniforms.
Sicily is a dancer (like her mommy) while Madi is a soccer player (like her daddy). Both humble and amaze us daily.
Richie is a hospital administrator for Integris Health and I have gone into the family business - Jackie Cooper Tire and Electronics. Please call or come by any of our three metro area locations and let one of our phone professionals help you! J
My God, my husband and our 2 girls are the greatest joys in my life. Close behind are decorating, travel, compassionate-conservative politics and OU football. Boomer Sooner!
Since high school, I married Dorothy Beaver who I dated throughout our high school years. In May of 1987, the pride and joy of my life , my daughter Meghan Nichole, was born. Coincidentally, she graduates this year from MHS. I moved my family to Ft.Worth, TX for two years to be near Dorothy`s folks. We ended up back in Moore and I went to work for a steel company. Dorothy and I soon divorced and then remarried, then divorced again one and a half years later. I then started driving big trucks over the road and enjoyed the scenery. After that, I started my own company building steel buildings , carports, any steel structure. I moved to Techumseh and remarried which lasted three years. I am now retired and enjoying life day by day.
As for hobbies, I fish and camp out . I also do handyman work for people, or should I say, mostly women who do not have a man around to take care of the problems with their property. I own my own boat and enjoy the lake tremendously. It is so wonderful to be retired at an age when you can enjoy it.
Happily married to David Logan since 1989. We've been blessed with 7children, ages 2 to 15 yrs (4 boys, 3 girls). We moved around several times in the early years of marriage with the military (Alabama,Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas). David served as an officer in US Army flying Medevac Helicopters in Desert Storm. He left the military in '95 so we could live near family. We now live in Flower Mound, TX where David has his own business, New Creation Custom Woodworking, and I homeschool our 7 children. We are very active in our church where we help facilitate marriage & parenting classes and serve in Children's
Ministry. We enjoy family candlelight dinners and camping trips!
1985 to 1991 - Spent 2 years at Southwestern Oklahoma State University studying Graphic Design and 2 years at OU studying Advertising.
1991 - Landed my first real job at American Fidelity Assurance Company. I will be celebrating my 15th year with AFA in May of this year where I work as Creative Director in their in-house Advertising Department.
1992 - Married Clifton Dale Briscoe, the man of my dreams. I am proud to say that he is still the man of my dreams. Clifton and I live in Newcastle, Oklahoma. We have a beautiful 16-year old daughter, Chrystle who is truly a blessing.
Clifton is an Oklahoma City Firefighter. When we are not working we are very involved with our church. We work in the youth department and various other areas. We are also involved with Chrystle's school activities such as basketball and choir. Chrystle is a Sophomore at Newcastle High School. She is the enrolled in honors classes and serves as the manager for the boys basketball team and involved in the school choir.
I enjoy doing anything with my family. I also enjoy shopping, weekends at the lake and motorcycle rides with my husband. Everyday I thank the Lord for my life and the wonderful family he has blessed me with!

Varsity Soccer, 84, 85
(I added that for giggles as soccer players didn't have any sort of status at our school. If you weren't a football or basketball player, a wrestler or a cheerleader, you sort of blended in with the surroundings. Although I'm very happy to know that I wasn't the "Napoleon Dynamite" of our school. That dubious honor went to someone else, who I shall not name as he may be the CEO of a major Fortune 500 company now)
Left my good old Oklahoma home shortly after graduation. There were brief stops in Missouri and Illinois before I found myself pumping gas at a station off of Highway A1A in Cocoa Beach, Florida. I'm 19...not really seeing any future in "Full-Service" Gas Stations. What to do next?
Fortunately, I had a dream! Joined the military, got married (I guess I thought that was the right thing to do) packed up and moved to Europe. Loved it so much, I didn't come back for ten years! I was stationed in England when my wife and I had our first child (only child to date). It wasn't very long after that when my wife decided she'd had enough of England and packed up and moved home. Moved to Germany a few months after that and started playing soccer for a club team as well as the National Military team. The rest is one big epic story...there may be a movie in this yet!
Germany was enjoyable. Drinking beer was the national pastime! You never needed an excuse to head to the bar. It was assumed that everyone met there each night to plan the evenings festivities. Everyone should get a chance to experience Oktoberfest in Munich. It isn't how much you can drink, it's more like how long you can drink before you pass out in a beer-induced coma.
After a year in Germany, I moved to Turkey to play soccer for a club team there and was only able to stay for eight months because there were issues with my work visa as it related to my U.S. Military history. Imagine that! Nevertheless, Turkey was an interesting place. People were very friendly but it was very apparent that I stuck out like a sore thumb. This was during the first Gulf War in Iraq and there were a few active terrorist groups in and around the city I was living in. I felt at times like a big target.
While in Turkey, I began communicating with an American friend living in Italy. He told me he could help me get signed with a soccer team and after the work visa thing fell through, I jumped a plane and moved to Italy. I resorted to jumping the stadium fence and crashing this teams practice in order to communicate my intention of trying out. It was rather funny, the groundskeeper trying to chase me down attempting to kick me out of the stadium. He didn't speak any English and "pizza" was about all the Italian I knew. Fortunately, one of the players spoke English and everything worked itself out. After I signed my contract (I made about $700 a month), one to the teams board members gave me the key to a small (extra small) apartment and sort of "loaned" me this Fiat that was about the size of a bathtub. For three amazing years I travelled Italy (including snowboarding trips to Austria and Switzerland) found out why Italians have life by the balls, drank a lot of wine, ate pasta every night and had a great time doing it!
Alas, one must always come back down to planet Earth. At that time, I was thirty years old and had no career to speak of. I decide to return to America, attend college and basically start life all over again. My college experience was interesting! We've all said at one point in our lives, "I wish I could be eighteen again and know what I know now." Well... I got to do exactly that! During my four years at San Francisco State, I worked at San Francisco International Airport, carried 18 units a semester and was a full-time student athlete. Oddly enough, I was the oldest NCAA soccer player in the country. Fortunately, school was relatively easy and I graduated with a degree in Industrial Design.
The San Francisco job market was a challenge, but I eventually landed a job with the Business Development Group at Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and have been here for a few years. Reflecting back on those twenty years, it's easy to think that I should be nearing retirement or at least have some seniority with a good company, maybe own a home or two and have some kids running around. But for me, I'm single, live in one of the craziest cities in the country and feel like a kid! Or should I say, my girlfriend often accuses me of acting like a kid!
I have absolutely no idea if I'll know anyone at the reunion. I'm certain that we'll all look a little different, but I'm serving notice to the following individuals: Eric Bowman, Brad Wood, Mark Tafola or anyone else on the soccer team. David Shannon - I probably owe you some gas money for all the rides you gave me to school in your bad-ass Trans Am Firebird. Keith Moore - Sorry that I chickened out of the fight we were supposed to have after school. You would have put me in the hospital. Hope you're not still mad. Fran Johnson - You waited for our graduation ceremony to give me a kiss. I had the biggest crush on you for two years! Anyone who remembers Coach Estelle Wall (Tennis coach and Social Studies teacher) and remembers him talking about his "dump-truck drivin wife". What was that all about? And anyone else that may remember me.
After graduation I attended Rose State College. I worked in the credit industry for 5 years and then moved into a very interesting position in the public record industry. I traveled to courthouses across the country and even had the opportunity to spend time in the Philippines. While working for this company I met and married my best friend. Matt and I have done a lot of traveling together and we love to cruise. In 2001 we started a new business providing data solutions to large financial institutions and currently have 25 employees. It has been challenging and very exciting. We have two wonderful miniature dachshunds that are adorable and spoiled. On 11/17/2004 we had our first child; Madison Claire. She has been such a joy and has made our life complete. We currently live in Edmond and attend Life church in North OKC.
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1989 with a B.B.A in marketing. I then attended the University of Tulsa, receiving a J.D. in 1992. My wife and I were married in 1993 and we made Tulsa our home. I have had the opportunity to work for three different law firms in Tulsa, specializing in litigation. From 1993 -1996 I was as Adjunct Judge for the State Department of Labor. From 1993 to the present, I have served the Citizen Potawatomi Indian Nation as a Supreme Court Justice. In 2003, I joined a new law firm that is now known as LaCourse, Davis, Coffey & Gudgel. We represent a number of Fortune 500 companies and other entities in State and Federal Courts in Oklahoma and surrounding states. I have three children and we are expecting our fourth in late March. My family is active in our church where we teach Sunday school and coach basketball.
Oh, my! The past 20 years have disappeared forever. I hope all of you from the Class of 1985 are having the lives of your dreams.
As for me, the past 20 years have been eventful. I¹m just now deciding what I want to be when I grow up. And I think it's taken me this long to start to grow up!
Here's a short history, for those who might be interested:.
After graduating from Moore, I attended and then graduated from East Central University in Ada, Okla., with a speech degree and a mass communications minor. I then alternated between being a journalist at various newspapers and a minister at various churches. I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary for awhile, but did not graduate.
In 1989, I married Lisa Johnson of Pauls Valley. We have a dog and a cat and four children; Nathan, 14; Jeremy, 13; Grace, 10; and Seth, 8.
Thanks to various jobs in various places, we have lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, and Missouri.
In 1999, I received a master¹s in journalism and mass communications from the University of Oklahoma. I have had a growing interest in teaching. So, after teaching full-time at a small college in Oklahoma, I left for the University of Missouri-Columbia Schools of Journalism and Law to earn a dual Ph.D in journalism/J.D., specializing in First Amendment law.
Right now, I¹m finishing the dissertation. A book publisher is interested in the final product. I am in the process of accepting a position as assistant professor of journalism at the University of Arizona in Tucson, teaching and researching media law and history. I plan to finish some law credits at UA, transfer them back to MU, and receive the law degree. Then, I¹ll practice law part-time as I serve as a professor. This combines my interests over the years, I hope.
I have missed all of you, and reading your names on this web site have caused me to remember people and events in fresh ways. I¹m so glad to hear of what¹s happening with some of you. I want to know more about all of you. I want to be able to come to the reunion, but I was supposed to have been in the middle of moving to Arizona that weekend. Lisa and I will do our best to come.
I want to say HI to everyone from MHS!! It's been since our 10 year reunion that I've seen or talked with anyone from high school. It's been a great ride so far since high school and I'm truly looking forward to what God has in store the next 20 years.
After graduation, I moved to Gainesville, Florida and attended the Univ. of Florida. I loved living and going to school there, but for some reason had a hard time keeping my mind on studying (I think it was I was always at the beach). I bleed orange and blue and would love to live there again, it was a far cry from Moore. Anyway, I met my future wife just a couple of weeks after moving there at the church I attended. We dated for 4 years and after her first year of Veterinary Med we got married in July, 1989. It was one of the greatest days of my life and we continue to enjoy each other. After getting married, I went to work while Laurie finished Vet Med in May 1992.
We prayed and thought a while about where we wanted to live and ended up in Arlington, TX. I transferred with the company I worked for and my wife worked for a vet in South Arlington. I went back to school at night, after living here a year, at Univ. of Texas at Arlington and worked managing a retail golf store in Fort Worth full time. I graduated in 1997 with degrees in Finance and Economics. I went to work for American Express and eventually Fidelity investments in Dallas. My wife at the same time opened her own practice in Arlington and God has really blessed us as she continues to grow after 8 years in business.
During this time, we made a conscious decision not to start a family until we both decided, not to mention God, it was time. After several unsuccessful pregnancies, we were blessed in March of 2002 with twin girls born near Guangzhou, China. They came home at 14 months of age and have been the joy of our lives. To show you what a great sense of humor God has, during our first ten years of marriage we (really me) were not interested in having kids. Now I get to stay home with them and can't imagine my life without them.
Last May, we were blessed again when I brought our son home from Shanghai, China at his 1 year birthday. So we are currently a family of five, two 4 year olds and a 21 month year old. In addition to keeping up with our kids, I attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth part time to get the required hours I need to go on the mission field full time, and I own a construction company that my dad helps me run.
As I mentioned, we are called to go on the mission field probably with in the next couple of years. This may be the last time I see any of you for a very long time. We will be in East Asia (I can't mention where since it is closed to missionaries) and we are looking forward to the adventure God has in store for us.
Would I have thought I would be were I am today back in '85, no way!! But I am thrilled with how things have turned out and enjoy every day with my kids.
I am really excited about seeing a lot of old friends I haven't kept in touch with over the years and making some new ones I never knew when we where in high school.
Sorry this is so long but I figured some of my old friends from Moore wondered what ever happened to Kutch. Email me if you live around DFW, I would love to catch up before the reunion.
After reading all the other bios, I look at my life and wonder what I have accomplished and how I can make my life look just as great as all the others. Well, I am not even going to try because life is what it is...... just life. We have to take each moment, trust God, cherish what we have and believe that things will get better.
I married in 1986, during this marriage, I had three awesome children. Bradley, my oldest was born in October of 86' and then Heather came along in September of 88'. After many prayers from a young boy that believed God would answer any prayer he said, Bradley named his brother when he was born in 92'. Matthew, although not expected, has been bugging his brother since he was born, be careful what you pray for. My oldest will graduate from Moore High School this May. My daughter attends Westmoore (the traitor, haha) and my youngest is in 7th grade. They keep me busy and I wouldn't know what life was all about without them in my life.
My marriage ended in 1996, and my life completely changed. I began college. I went from being a housewife that sold Tupperware, to becoming a reserve deputy for Oklahoma County and a full time officer elsewhere. I still hold a full time commission as an officer, although I am only working part time as a reserve for Oklahoma County. I love every aspect of this career. I serve on our honor guard, with communications, and many other duties at OK County.
I am also very involved with my church. I sponsor many youth group activities as well as help with the Divorce Recovery classes. I also work as a Co-director at an after school program that our church sponsors. I put God first in my life and let Him lead my life.
I am also attending Mid-America Christian University. My studies are in Behavioral Sciences. I am planning on becoming a juvenile probation officer, unless God has other plans for me. I currently have an associates degree in Crime Victims Survivor Services and in Police Science. I have not decided whether I will pursue my masters after I graduate in May of 06', because I will have two children in college at that time too. Who said college was only for the young?
I am proud to say, I have kept my head above water all these years with shear trust in God. My life has been tough, money has been tight at times, and some days all I wanted to do was cry from frustration, but God has never let me down. I live in the same house I have owned since 1994 and I am surviving two teenagers who are driving.... life couldn't get much better than this. I believe one day, God will send me a special man that I can share my life with.
I am looking forward to seeing some old friends. I am also looking forward to meeting others that I never knew in school. Sharon Barney, I hope you are there..... it's been so long since we talked. Wes Murphy, I hope you are doing well! If anyone wants to contact me, my email is ladyk8@aol.com.
Well, hello everyone! I hope everyone has been doing well and enjoying their lives. Here is a short synopsis on what I've been doing the past 20 years.
I attended the University of Oklahoma initially in a double major with Aerospace Eng. and Violin Performance. After a while I woke up and just focused on the Violin aspect. I graduated in 1990 With my Bachelors. During those years I spent a lot of time in Los Angeles and NY NY in the summer studying. In 1991 I spent a year studying in Vienna. What an amazing place! I laugh a lot when I remember I had a Toga party at the Castle that Mozart and Haydn had performed a bulk of their music 200 years before. A man has gotta party sometime. I completed my Master's in 1993 and I have a year of Doctoral work at the University of Michigan but I will finish my Ph.D. at Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois whenever I get the time to. After my time there I came back and got my first teaching jobs @ OCCC and OBU in Shawnee. In 1994 I got the Job as Professor of Violin at Oklahoma City University and I've been there ever since. I'm currently the Associate Concertmaster for the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and have been playing in the Phil since 1988. I've been lucky in the past to perform with some amazing performances at the Civic Center. Ray Charles singing America at the Nov. concert after 9/11 is a concert I will remember until the day I die. I've also been performing a ton in Las Vegas and the West Coast in recent years. A true who's who list of people. Lionel Richie, Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart, Barry Manillow, Quincy Jones, Luciano Pavarotti, Tony Bennett and a large Tour with Andre Bocelli, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the Musical Chicago. I have some huge news brewing that I'll know more about by reunion time. I'll tell you then. I don't wanna jinx it so cross your fingers!
Now for me. I'm a total workaholic but I never lost the crazy side my friends know exist. I perform a ton but it's a lot of fun for the most part. When I do get some free time I go to OU home Games and to their Bowl Games. The 2003 Rose Bowl ROCKED the Earth! I golf a bit and love just hanging out with my friends and doing some traveling when I can and I'm a good cook when I decide to do it. I've never married. I've been engaged but distance and life goals won out. It's all good though, and I know it will happen one day when Andre Bocelli's Italian goddess of a PR person or Catherine Zeta Jones wakes up and returns my call! LOL The single life has allowed me so many opportunities to go out and tour so marriage hasn't been a huge priority as of late. I'm also an uncle and I've already spoiled my Nephew with his Lil Sooner gear and 3 Jerseys signed by Coach Stoops and the team. He bleeds Crimson and Cream.
I hope this catches you up. If you are ever at the Philharmonic or in Vegas don't be shy and just say HI! I can't wait to see you all and catch up. Until then MHS Class of 85 Rules!
PS to the crazy people I knew then and still know now. You are the best friends anyone could have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE !!
It’s quite hard to believe that 20 years has come and gone so quickly. After High School, I jumped right in and took some classes at OCCC. I became bored with that, and focused on children’s ministry instead. Connie (Long) Stewart and I both became pretty active in puppetry and Children’s ministry at our Church. We wrote our own scripts, and even had our own traveling stage. Life moved me in a different direction, and I eventually left Children’s ministry. I then became focused on my work. I had started working at Montgomery Ward my sophomore year in high school. I continued there, working my way up to becoming Business Manager. I remained there until their demise and closure in 2001. In the meantime, I met my wonderful and loving husband, Patrick, while working in the Auto Center at Wards. We married in 1990. Pat began traveling with his job, and I decided to go back to college and pick up a few more classes. After an absolutely fabulous trip to Maui, Hawaii in 1998, I became pregnant with our daughter, Kayla. She was born in May of 99, and will be six years old this year. She is THE love of our life. She is in Kindergarten, and tells me daily “Mom, you just don’t know what it is like to be in school these days”. I am currently working in Accounting and Human Resources for an Orthopedic Clinic in South Oklahoma City. Pat continues to work for Farmer’s Insurance and enjoys working from home. His love is the outdoors…and landscaping. My hobbies these days are rubber-stamping (again, thanks to Connie) scrap booking, and Daisy Scouts with Kayla. We make our home in Moore, and just love it here.
God has truly blessed our family with strong ties and much love.
I am very excited about the upcoming reunion and getting reacquainted with friends.
Since having children, I am SURE I suffer from long term memory loss! High school? Was I even there? Well, I know I was because I have a diploma to prove it but sadly, most of the memories escape me which is why I am looking forward to the reunion so everyone can tell me what I missed.
After graduation I attended Rose State for a couple years and focused on Theater (shocker, I know). I had no clue what I was going to do with a degree in Theater and I have always had more of an entrepreneur spirit anyway so it was obvious that I was not really ready to focus on my studies. While planning my "dream job", I worked for a local photo/video store and got my "big break" by teaching photography on their weekly TV show. Well, as many of you might remember, when the oil crash hit Oklahoma, many companies packed up and left town... including the one I worked for. So I headed out to see the world (okay, I got as far as Indiana)! I found a semi-professional theater group there and got busy working for them. What a great experience it was and I got to work under the direction of some incredible directors. I was just about to start doing some summer stock theater when I met the most incredible man, Rich. He was an Electrical Engineer major at Purdue University and our first date was that summer stock production. We married in 1991 and after his graduation he whisked me off to beautiful Idaho! No seriously, it's beautiful there! We lived in Idaho for about 8 years and I put my entrepreneur spirit to work and opened my own coffee company, Mug Shots. It was such a great job and I loved every minute of it. Rich and I also helped start a community theater group there and I had many opportunities to direct and act but finally I couldn't take the snow any longer, and begged Rich to move to Oklahoma, which we did, back in 2000. Ahhh, home at last! Thankfully, Rich loves it here as well so I think we will stay awhile.
Life has been great - theater, my own business, teaching drama -- but the greatest gift I have in my life are two of the sweetest girls in the world. Don't even try to compare them to yours, because mine are awesome! Ginny is 3 1/2 and Christina is 8 1/2. God has really changed my life around and because of Him and my great hubby, I have been blessed to have a job greater than any business I could dream up and I am proud to say I am a stay-at-home mom (and what idiot coined that phrase anyway? I'm never HOME!) But because that entrepreneur in me just wouldn't let go, I am also teaching rubber stamping (my other passion) on the side and absolutely love it. I am also the drama director at Eagle Heights Church in OKC. Life can't get any better than this!
I would love to hear from some of you and hear what you're up to these days! Email me! connie.stewart@cox.net Hope to see you all in July!
Has it really been 20 years? Sometimes it feels like yesterday and that is absolutely no way that we should all be pushing 40! My life has taken all sorts of twists and turns in the past 20 years. I don’t have the time or energy to explain it all, so I will just cut to the chase.
I am currently single, have been for 5 years now. I was married twice but unfortunately, neither time to the right man. I don’t regret either choice, as I have 3 beautiful, intelligent, smart mouth kids from them. My life revolves around my kids. Camille (16), Craig (14), & Chris (13), keep me running and focused on the most important reason I live….them.
I have lived in Glenpool for almost 12 years now. I am actively involved with the Glenpool Soccer Booster and Glenpool High School Band Boosters.
I have been employed with the Bixby Telephone Company for the past 9 years. I am the Product Coordinator, a title that I love and sometimes hate. The industry intrigues me, as the technology is always changing, giving me continued opportunities to learn. Prior to this I had been stay at home Mommy. A job that I loved but unfortunately could not keep.
I’ve lost touch with most of you from MHS. I can count on one hand how many I have spoke with in the past year. I can’t wait to see you all. Feel free to drop me an email if you’d like to reminisce. You can reach me at jevans@olp.net or javonna67@yahoo.com.
Well, it is hard to believe that 20 years has went by. So many different twists and turns have happened to my life. Some good, some not so good. I am sure we have all experienced good and bad, that is just life. But in a nutshell here is where my life is now and what has been keeping me busy since the 10 year reunion.
Well after the 10 year I returned home to Tampa, FL where I currently still reside of 14 years. I dabbled in being a Private Investigator for awhile. That job became extremely dangerous, especially the undercover work. So,I decided to go to school for Surgical Technology. Achieved my certificate in that. However, after getting severe spinal issues, I could no longer stand in an OR Room. So, I had to give that up. I was out of work for 1.5 years and 6 mos. of that was spent in a wheelchair. I have since totally recovered and have been working in the Mortgage industry for Countrywide Home Loans. This job has been a godsend for me and I love each and everyday in the environment here. I am a Regional Operations Administrator for the SE Region of the State of Florida. It has been a rewarding job in many aspects. It allows me to see people being placed in a home of their dreams, a great paycheck which has been nice. But mostly making people's dreams come true. Our company is the 3rd largest Lender in the country and I am proud to be a part of it.
As for my marital status...well let's just say it is probably very different from most people in our student body. In September of 2004, I married for the first and last time a wonderful woman named April. Yes, you did not read that wrong! :>) I am who I am and I am still the fun, loving and hopefully good person you all remember. I am happy and so fulfilled with my spouse and could not ask for anything more. I have never known such peace and comfort as I do with her. We share a home with 2 dogs, London and Spain and hope to one day have a child. They are GREAT KIDS though!!
I am in the process of writing a screenplay. So, hopefully by the end of 2005 it will be complete. So, look for it on the BIG SCREEN!!!!!!!!! I also enjoy spending quality time with my family & friends, singing, cooking, painting, going to the beach every Sunday and just plain old relaxing. I golf on occasion which is always interesting. :>)
So, as you can see my life is not much different than any of yours, just something it might take some of you a while to understand or be ok with. I am very happy with who I am and am extremely grounded in my life. I do thank God for bringing me the best thing in my life. He had and has a path for us all. This was the path he gave me. I hold my head up and am proud of who I have become since Moore High School.
Hello! I am looking forward to the reunion this summer and catching up with old friends!
After graduating from Moore, I attended Oklahoma State University. Tracy Quinton Dooling and I were dorm-mates our Freshman year and had an absolute blast our first year away from home. I was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority - which I loved and remain involved with as an aluma. I graduated from OSU in 1989 with a B.S. in Marketing and a minor in International Business.
From there I moved to Dallas and met my future husband, Jody, at my very first job. Although the job didn't last long - Jody and I dated for several years and got married in 1992. After 11 years of marriage - we finally took the plunge and became parents to Evan Randel Bare on June 2, 2003. He is almost 21 months old now and just an absolute joy. He definitely keeps us busy though - although I feel guilty saying that after so many who have written in who have 3+ kids! I don't know how you do it.
I have remained working after having Evan since I have my own public relations business. My clients are luxury retailers, restaurants and non profit organizations. Although I never dreamed of having my own business, I absolutely love it. This summer marks my fifth year in business. I office in the quarters above our garage - so feel I have the best of both worlds: a working space separate from the house and a flexible schedule so I can pop in and see my little boy throughout the day.
I am very involved in the Dallas community sitting on several boards and serving on multiple committees. This from the girl who didn't get to wear the National Honor Society sash at graduation because I didn't do my community service hours! In my spare time (ha!) I love playing tennis, spending time with my husband and friends and anything art related.
That's about all to tell about me. Again, looking forward to seeing everyone in July! Thanks to the committee for their time in planning the reunion.
Only after prodding from Laura (Kellum) Cudd did I decide that okay I would just do this. So Feel free to blame it all on her.
Well, to begin with once the great semi blurry years of high school ended I was pretty sure that I would spend the next umpteen years working side by side with my father is his business. To my surprise he closed his business after 20 some odd years in the summer of '85. Guess he showed me.
1988 I started and still work at Oklahoma City Police Department. In 1990 I married Malinda (Goode) Daniels. We have two sons Mike 17 and Tyler 11. Unfortunately my marriage ended in 2000. Life throws you very interesting twists and turns. However nothing is as important as your children. There's something to be said about God throwing you things that will make you stronger and wiser.
For close to 17 years now I have had the privilege of being involved with Patrol, Training, Narcotics Investigation, Canine, Drug Intervention. For the past 10 or so I have been involved with Crime Scene Investigation. Yes, that's right CSI. Somehow I was never given a script... I have seen a great deal of interesting and different things as have all of us. Oh I have to put this in here since It made Laura smart off about age. I can retire in 42 months.
I have taught classes regarding some type of forensic discipline in several states and colleges. Even though I still seem to be a tad short of hours for my degree. Oooops.
I am also a part of C.H.A.P.P.S team which is Cops Helping Alleviate Police Problems. A confidential support group for traumatic and stressful situations.
I spent about 8 years coaching baseball at Buck Thomas Park (12th Street). But now my little kids are big.
When I am not with my boys I spend a lot of time traveling, relaxing, and enjoying life. Cruising all over the country on my motorcycle.
Wow, it is so refreshing to read about everyone's life, and to see so much success come from our class! Go 85'ers! We all graduated on May 20th, by the way, because that was my 18th birthday, and the best present a gal could ask for. I was so done with learning, or so I thought. The only class I went on to take at OCCC was typing, and it's paid off! I was the gal who wasn't allowed to wear pants, or makeup, pierce my ears, go to movies, or cut my hair. Well, all of that has changed now, you can call me the "heathen". Amazingly enough, through all that I managed to find Del, the man of my dreams (pinch me and tell me it's real). We were married 18 yrs. the 20th of Feb. It has been the best years of my life. We were 22 when we found out I could not have children. I had always had such a passion for dogs, and they were always my babies. God helped us through those trying times.
We've been here and there, Pastored churches for 4 yrs, evangelized for about 2 more, and went back into the working world, almost 10 yrs ago. I worked for AOL for 5 yrs, as did Del, then they moved him on up the ladder to the Corporate office in Columbus, OH. We lived there and loved it for a yr and a half and they laid his whole department off. We moved back to OK, and 8 months later he landed a great job with Business Solutions, to which he's worked his way up to the Vice President!
I have fibromyalgia very severe, so I keep my work life fairly stress free. I work part time as a Legal Secretary for a law office here in Enid, OK,as well as work part time for myself at home doing transcription on the Internet. I have 2 of the most adorable nephews in the whole world, and we have a daughter that calls us her "other Mom and Dad", who just had a beautiful baby in Dec, and she will call me Nana Rhonda, which breaks my heart, (can't you tell?). I have 216 pictures of her if anyone is interested, and tons of my nephews! They are definitely the love of my life, along with my Bischon Frise doggie, Kasey Michelle, who will be 3yrs old in March. My how time flies. She picks stuff up for her Momma when I drop things, other than that, she keeps her brain in storage and out of sight. She has such a rough life, just ask her!
We are very active in our church here in Enid, at First Assembly, where Del is an Elder, I play the piano for the first service, and am the Women's Secretary/Treasurer. My hobbies include playing the piano, scrapbooking, playing computer games, regular games, spending other people's money, and going to Red Lobster with my friends. I love to travel, and have taught my husband the difference between oceanfront and oceanview rooms when we are on the water! I have very much been into making memories, and boy do I have some doosies.
We are still so blessed to have all of our immediate family members in tact. We were pastors of very small churches, and struggled to put food on the table. God has been very faithful to bless us, and it is nice to be able to help others now. I am so ready for this reunion. I can't wait to meet back up with old friends that I've lost touch with. Thank you so much for all who are having a hand in putting this together, it is much appreciated.
Well, I think like many of us, after high school I went to OU and really tried to force myself into an expected mold. But for those of you who know me, the mold was broke when I was born. (ha, ha) I started working at The Finish Line when I was in college. Not long after I started, I was given an opportunity to get into management. I succumbed to the dollar signs and left OU my junior year. I became an Area Training Manger over the next few years and all was good. At least that was the appearance, but I always felt something was missing. So after 16 years in “the wonderful world of retail”, I left to pursue the pathway that I was meant to take. I went back to school to become a Substance Abuse Counselor. Since then, everything has fallen into place. I met the love of my life at school and she and I have been head-over-heels for the past 5 years. (maybe 1/2 of you are shocked at this statement) School is a slow go, still have to work full time and fit school around that schedule. We have a great house just down the street from the high school. You can find us out in our pool or working in our yard any day that the weather permits. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and love the outdoors. We just recently welcomed a niece and nephew who are too precious for words. All in all, it isn't anywhere near where I thought I would be at this time in my life, but all is in God's time and so far, I have no regrets where he has lead me. I look forward to seeing all of you. For those of you in the Spanish club, “Hola”. (You know that is all I ever learned in those two years.)
Wow! I can hardly believe it’s been 20 years since we last heard the bell ring at MHS. I think I was a bit in shock when we graduated anyway. Who knows maybe it was the 50 million streamers coming my way or the crazy mob of people screaming and then looking for friends when it was over (anyone else having flashbacks as you read this?). Or maybe it was just the enormity of the fact that it was over and “What Now”?
Well the “What Now” for me has been a very interesting journey. I went to college at Central State in Edmond. There I learned how to catch bats, rats, and mice. I also learned more about fish (as if Mr. Pigg hadn’t filled me in enough already) and spent afternoons wading through muddy water to collect the smallest little water critters (things most people step on). On one field trip I even managed to find myself in a hole in the ground formally known as a “cavern”. I decided that I really didn’t want to do much of that again after I was squeezing my not so small body through a very narrow crack and made it through only to have a bat land right on my chest. Yep…not a pretty picture.
Anyway, for those of you that were my fellow bus mates and campers (and you know who you are) at MHS then you may have guessed what I grew up to be? Yep, a Scientist!
I graduated in 1990 with a BS in Biology. Took me a bit to find a job since I hated chemistry, didn’t want to move out of the state, and the science field was predominately male at the time.
My crowning achievement in the “outdoor” sciences was the summer I helped sample water quality on 97 lakes all over Oklahoma while working for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. I got very brown and learned how to drive a truck with a scanoe strapped to the top going 80 on Oklahoma back roads, not to mention boat navigation and plastic jug fill up (don’t laugh, its an art!). Seriously, I am proud to say that I can name a number of lakes around Oklahoma that I was able to gather data on and they are much cleaner today. (OKC Zoo lake was one of them).
I worked for the Wildlife Department calling up hunters in the evening to see if they shot the little rabbit with a bow or a flintlock and various other interesting surveys before finally landing a job at the OU Health Sciences Center in 1993 doing behavior work and drug studies.
Need any advice on Mice? Then I’m your gal! I’ve weighed ‘em, measured ‘em, shocked ‘em & swam ‘em and even taught them a thing or two. But I’ll have to save that for later cause I could write a book on “My time with the mice”. (Hey, that has a nice ring to it)
About 4 years ago I made the jump from animal research to the human realm. I now am a Clinical Research Associate for Pediatric Hematology Oncology. I love my job. I help process research studies and data for a National cooperative cancer group. I actually am a part of the big picture to one day find the cure for various cancers…how cool is that!
I still love books, movies, music and am a bit of a reality TV freak. I was engaged once but am currently single and no kids although I have helped raise a few over the years.
I spend most of my time with family and friends and am practically half Korean by now. Hee Sun Kim-Suh and I are still the best of friends and I am a godmother to her son. As of last summer I am living in Norman and enjoying house living rather than apartment life. My biggest excitement so far was the very angry animal that I managed to trap under the house and was afraid to let out on Christmas Eve. But that’s another story….
Anyway, if you are still with me and not passed out snoozing, I am looking forward to seeing everyone and finding out what you have been up to. I do have to say that I like April’s idea about the $50 application fee….…but then I don’t have a dowry. *LOL*...............................See you at the reunion!
Oh, one more thing, when we get there in July …………..………..as Kevin Bacon said in “Foot Loose”
Has it been 20 years? It sure went fast. As for me, after HS I attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I received my Bachelors of Music Education degree in the Fall of 1990. While attending college I met my wife Dana. She played flute in the marching band and was an English major. After a year and a half of convincing her that I was the greatest guy in the world we got married in February of 1991.
I got my first teaching job in Waurika, which is a small town in the souhwest part of the state. After staying for a year and half, we decided to move to Texas where we could make some money. My first job in Texas was at a town called Nocona. Yes, that's where they make the boots! It was really rough at first, but I was able to take them to there first superior ratings in over twenty years. After about five years the Boot Factory moved and the town started to dry up. Long story short it was time to move on. Muenster, Texas was next up and while I was there the best thing in my life happened to me. My Wife and I were blessed with a set of twins. A boy, Jenson and a girl, Jalyn. They are now three and it is an absolute blast. Last summer we all packed up and moved to Brownwood, TX and I teach in a school near hear called Early. My wife works as the third grade resource teacher for the elementary. We really love it here.
We are members of the Methodist Church, and when I get some free time I am either fishing, hunting or out riding my Harley.
I left College in 1987 to move to Colorado for a Retail Store Manager position and then on to California, Las Vegas and back to Colorado in 1991 were I stayed. I went on to graduate from Real Estate College in Colorado in 1995. I have also been with my wonderful husband since 1996. We love to travel, scuba dive, golf, see movies, entertain and go to sport events (football & hockey). I have enjoyed Real Estate (sales and investing) and went on to start my own real estate company "Pollard Friendly Realty, LLC.
I have been working very part-time since we were blessed with our son, Alec, 19 months ago. Alec is loved so much. It took years of effort for his existence and we aren't opposed to having more either. My husband, Doug, runs a successful family owned business in Boulder. I am very close with my family and my husbands family. I am living my dream.
My best friend is still my twin sister, Shelly. She lives near me in Colorado. I am looking forward to the 20 year class reunion and visiting with old (& new) friends from not only High School but Elementary and Middle School too.
After high school attended a few local colleges and received an Associate in Schience. Worked in the real world for several years and finally decided on becoming a nurse. I received my BSN at the University of Central Oklahoma and worked CCU at Integris Medical Center, in OKC for several years. I quit work with my first child and have just recently started nursing again at the Renissance Women's Center in Edmond, OK. I am a District Manager with Arbonne International and have found my real love and passion. I spend a lot of time recruiting and training for my company and building my future. I enjoy keeping in touch with several life long friends from school (Lesley McDonald, Michelle Hammer (Renee Barber), Sharon and Shelly Richardson, Shelly Kidd, and Diana Folks) just to name a few.
I really have a blessed life and look forward to everyday spent with my kids, family and friends.
Holy Cow!!! Has it been 20 years already???? Now it’s not just my kids making me feel old!!!! What have I done since high school? Welllll, I went to the University of Oklahoma and managed to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1989. On December 27, 1986 I married Robert Beck, a wonderful and caring man. He and I started dating during my senior year in high school. He has managed to put up with me for 18 years now and we have 3 wonderful children. Some people would say I planned things out perfectly since I had my oldest daughter 3 months after graduating college! I have been a stay at home mom since then. We moved from Norman to Ft. Smith, Arkansas – lived there for 3 years; then moved to Owasso, Oklahoma and lived there for 3 years. We now live in Keller, Texas and have been here for the past 9 years. My oldest child, Katie, has made it very clear that she is not moving anywhere since she is now a freshman in high school and has planted roots here. Sooo, I think we will probably stay put here. Keller is just outside of Ft. Worth. Our second child, Adam, is in 7th grade and quickly approaching the teenager stage of life. Since our 10 year reunion we have added a third one to the group – a girl, Allyson, who is 6 years old and boy does she know that she is the baby of the family! She is spoiled rotten. My husband is an air traffic control supervisor at Dallas/Ft. Worth International radar facility. I am a preschool teacher of 16 four year olds at Building Blocks preschool at the church we attend and I love it. I also consider them “my kids.” It is a part-time job, which gives me something to do and time to take care of the family at home also. I am for the most part wrapped up in my family and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!! My hobbies include cross-stitching, scrapbooking and watching the kids at their various activities. I love being a mom and can’t wait to see what others of you have been doing with yourselves at the reunion. See you there!!!
I can't believe it been 20 years. Since graduation I married the love of my life David Owen in Nov. 1985, this is our 20 yr anniversary . We have four great children Tyler 17, Jesse 13, Loren 10, Alexis, 16mos. I worked for Farmers insurance for 8 yrs as a customer service rep.. Then I went to work in a family business making neon clocks and neon signs , for 12 yrs
now. My life is very busy working full time and keeping up with four kids. Hope to see all of my old friends at the reunion, this summer.
Wow, where to begin. You could start by listening to “1985” by Bowling for Soup which my kids think is hilarious, but for the true version, please read on.
Unlike most of my classmates, I bleed orange, so I was off to Oklahoma State University to meet my destiny. I pledged Delta Delta Delta sorority and my Delta-buddy introduced me to my future husband Kurt at Eskimo Joe’s on bid-house night (just 3 days after my 18th birthday). I like to send her Christmas pictures to let her know it is all her fault! Kurt is a graduate of MHS (Memorial in Tulsa), a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and received a degree in Marketing from OSU in 1987. He works for Ackerman McQueen advertising. We still go to Stillwater for all of the football and basketball games.
Anyway, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in May of 1989, got married to Kurt in June and went to work for KPMG Peat Marwick in July. Received my CPA license and was on the career fast track when we were blessed with our first child Kale in 1991. We don’t always listen when God speaks to us. Sometimes he closes all other options so that you have to take the path he intended. So after a brief time as a full time Mom (I don’t know how they do it!), I started a small tax practice in my home that still keeps me busy a few months out of the year and went to work part-time for a family oriented government contractor as their Controller. Our second son, Drake, came along in 1994 and I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend with the boys. I secretly think they were grateful for the times I spent away from them as well – I’m definitely “domestically challenged”.
When the boys went to school, I decided to concentrate on my career again and went back to work full-time. First as a contractor at FAA, then as a federal employee, and now I am with the Department of Homeland Security. I am the Financial Specialist responsible for Will Rogers World Airport. I still get to see my friend Irene (Hartwig) MeGehee at the Center for lunch and enjoy making a difference in the Federal Government.
My life is truly blessed and busy! Our friends and family are still waiting for us to slow down, but I hope it is another decade or so before that happens. With 2 boys ages 13 & 10, we are never at home. Everyone plays sports including soccer, basketball, baseball/softball, and martial arts. Hobbies include scuba diving (my personal favorite), skiing (snow & water) and any other dangerous activity my 3 boys can talk me into! I am not as active as before as I have had both of my knees reconstructed, but I still embarrass my boys by playing hoop in the front yard or shagging balls during baseball practice! I give annual presentations at schools on scuba diving (one of my passions!) and Kurt and I manage to get away at least once or twice a year to indulge in the underwater sport.
My favorite memories from MHS sound like a TV. lineup:
Group locker: code word “Poppa Smurf” (“Breakfast Club” – ok it’s a movie on TV)
Band trips (only true “Friends” can handle 24hr bus trips and food poisoning)
Moore Miracles (“Sports Extra”)
Kelly’s (“Real World” Norman, OK)
Young Life-Skiatook (“Survivor” before reality TV)
Eating lunch with my friend(s) while driving a stick shift in 30 minutes or less (“Fear Factor” challenge), staying in for lunch (still “Fear Factor”)
I really look forward to seeing everyone! Please feel free to e-mail me at kdatterberry@netzero.net
After MHS graduation I went to College for 2 years then followed my sister “Sharon” to Colorado in 1987 and I am very glad I did because I love Colorado.
It took lots of looking but finally found my terrific husband, Ken, and we married in 2000. He has two daughters (ages 21 & 23) and one son (age 25) who is getting married on June 2, 2005 in Hawaii. I have no children of my own and do not plan to and will probably be a step-grandma soon. We have a Chesapeake Bay retriever named “Maverick” who is our baby at 130lbs. He loves to go on hikes and jogging with us.
I have been in the dental field for 18 years. My husband has his own business as a custom homebuilder. We love to play golf, scuba dive, snow ski, water ski, play softball and anything else outdoors. We enjoy staying at our log home in the mountains on weekends and spending time with our family. My twin sister, Sharon, and her husband, Doug, are our best friends and we spend a lot of time together and vacation several times a year together. We also love to spend time with my nephew (Sharon & Doug’s son), Alec, he is a joy. My older sister & her family and my parents still live in Oklahoma so we still visit occasionally and keep in touch with a few high school friends. I’m really looking forward to seeing a lot of my high school friends. See you in June
After high school I went to work for my father selling Insurance (lots o fun). I also went to OU for a year but since I was not enrolled they asked me not to come back. I lived in and around Moore/OKC for a couple of years and that is where I met my beautiful wife Tami. We got married in September 1989 and shortly after our daughter Jessica was born (don't do the math). We moved to Florida in 1990 where I again sold insurance for about 4 years and then we moved back to Oklahoma. About 6 months later we moved to Michigan but it was too cold for me so 3 months later we moved back to Oklahoma :~), we have been in Oklahoma ever since. Just like in school I never really was very good at taking orders from people so I decided it was time to work for myself. I had a go at running my own Insurance office in Moore and that lasted a short time after my friend Mike Mitscher talked me into moving forward into website design (which we both had dabbled in a little in the past). So for the past 5+ years I have been self employed and working 24/7 it seems. Nothing really too exciting in my life other than my wife and daughter and God above.
First, I would like to thank all of you that have put in your volunteer time to get us all together again.. I am sure that was no easy task. The website is great! I check it everyday to see who else has found it.
After high school, I went to Oklahoma State University for a year. The only two highlights out of that were using my soccer skills to play on the Varsity Football team as a kicker and also the only freshman to start for the OSU soccer team. Other than that, I hated it. I transferred to Oklahoma City University were I graduated in May 1990, with a degree in Political Science, minors in History, Russian history and Spanish. After transferring to OCU, decided to go ahead and play soccer there as well. During one of the school tryouts, as well as an opportunity to go to Germany to play professional soccer, the accident happened. I tore up my ankle pretty good. Because of this error, it cost my parents 3 years of tuition at a private school! As well as the opportunity to make a lot of money playing a professional sport.
After graduating, I moved to San Antonio, Texas where I currently reside. After being here about 6 months, a friend of mine that I used to fly with decided to set me up on a blind date. As we all know, being set up on a blind date can be, well, you know, odd! Well, let me tell you! After going on the date to see Top Gun at the Imax theatre downtown with the most beautiful girl in Texas, I was hooked. She was not going to get rid of me!! The former Ms. Melina Akers accepted my marriage proposal or, as my friends say, she felt sorry for me and agreed to marry me in 1994. We had been together since 1991 where we dated for a number of years. This March we will be married for 10 years. We have a gorgeous little 4.5 year old girl named Savannah. She looks just like her mommy. She is very out going like her mother and loves to go to Grandma and Bpaw's house, my parents. She loves sports. She plays soccer, baseball and golf, but her favorite thing to do is Gymnastics. We all like to brag on our children, but I really believe we will see this little girl on TV representing the US in a gymnastic field somewhere.
I can't say enough of what my family means to me. As many of you that have kids know, they are something special:) I cannot imagine a day without her making me laugh or seeing her smile. After a hard day at the office, there is nothing better at the end of the day than your little girl telling you she loves you and getting a hug and a kiss.
To my parents that have been reading these bios and waiting to see who is next to post theirs, thank you for all your support of the last 20 years. I love you both.
Best wishes to all of you and safe travels to our 20 year reunion.
Its me Gary Berger…after graduation I went to Rose State like so many other people, trying to figure out my spot in the world and after a miserable time I decide it was time to leave then confines of this grand old state and see the world…so I joined the Navy in 1986 and spent 6 years seeing the world. I got stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for my first duty station for three years, from there I went to places like Korea, Hong Kong, Phillippines, Sinapore, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Africa, Pakistan, Borneo…and dozens of little spots on the map, then I got stationed in Hawaii until 1992 when I decided it was no longer fun, not to mention two knee surgeries left me unable to be at sea. I was on the All Navy Soccer and Softball teams which is how I blew my knee out.
In between that time I married my first mistake…and we will leave it at that.
After I got out I came home and hunted for my true love, Sandy Davis, which I am still married to and have been for almost 13 years, I have a beautiful daughter, Kara, who is the absolute gleam in my eye, and the reason for my slightly gray hair.
I went to school while I was in Hawaii for graphic design, which currently is what I am doing. I am the Creative Service Director for the Journal Record Publishing Co. in OKC, and I have a slightly booming business on the side call DBGgraphix, which I work out of my home.
Well let's see, I had a prom baby. He is now 19 and in the Army Guard. Have a 5 yr old girl now that has more shoes than her mom. Have a wife of 10 yrs named Glenda (this is wife number 3. All good things come in 3 lol). After high school, started driving cross country for a few years. Hauled things for plays, concerts and ballets. Been in every state and Canada. Came back to Oklahoma and started driving for an electrical/oilfield shop. Then moved up to Journeyman Electrician for the Union L.U.1141 Okc. Was in prison for about 3 yrrrrrrs. Ok, as an apprentice electrician. Worked on some of the big jobs around Oklahoma like Ford Center, Bricktown Ballpark, OU Football Stadium, Mercy Heart Hospital, GM and the new Maps Library, to just name a few.
The things I miss most? Being a kid. Ok, I have a 5 yr. old that keeps me young and reminds me of how fun it was being a kid.
My MOM, you don't really seem to understand your parents until you get older or have a few yourself. Then you really start respecting them. Lost my mom a few years back. She was my best friend. She died of throat & lung cancer.
Well, I guess if it were all good, it would not be called life.
The Lord and Mom have kept me strong and headed in the right direction.
Thank you for the great job on the website.
It's always good to look back and see where it all started ,good or bad, and to see how nice you have it right at this time some 20 yrs. later.
Would not change one thing I have right now. Just maybe how I got here.
Wow, 20 years, where should I begin? This year marks a milestone for me. Not only will I be celebrating my 20 year class reunion but also my 20 year wedding anniversary. After graduation I married, and we built a home in Moore. I thought I would always live in Moore and my children would go to the same school we both graduated from. Well, not only do I no longer live in Moore, but we chose not to have children. We have 3 dogs and, well, lets just say they don’t know they are dogs. They are the children I never had and are very spoiled.
We lived in Moore for 7 years until moving to the Tulsa area 13 years ago. My husband took a job with American Airlines and we have been in Bixby ever since. I transferred with the Credit Bureau and opened an office for them here in Tulsa. I continued to work there up until 2 years ago when our office was consolidated with the one in OKC. After 17 years with the same company I was faced with the challenge to start a new career. A friend of mine had just started his own Mortgage Company and asked me to come to work for him. I have worked there for 2 years now as a mortgage consultant and I love it. Please support your fellow classmate and call me for your next mortgage loan (sorry I couldn’t resist). We spend most of our free time (which is never as much as we would like) traveling or at the lake.
I am really looking forward to the reunion and seeing everyone again. This website was a great idea and I want to personally thank the reunion committee for taking the time from their busy schedules to make this event something we won’t soon forget.
Wow, 20 years, seems like only 19. Seriously it doesn’t feel like it’s been 20 years since walking the halls at Moore High with some really great friends. Where has the time gone?
For me the last 20 years have been a wild ride. After high school I bounced around from Rose State to OCCC taking classes here and there with no real direction or focus. I landed a good job with a national corporation selling industrial parts to manufacturing companies around the US and did very well. In fact I did so well that they wanted me to manager a store in Chicago. Well “Chi” town wasn’t for me so I turned down the position and the company subsequently let me go. They wanted someone willing to travel and I was fine right here. Now if they would have offered me something on the west coast or back home in Hawaii I would have been out of here.
I spent the next 9 years working for the Oklahoma Department of Veteran’s Affairs in their personnel office. When I started at ODVA I was a Typist Clerk II and nine years later I was the Personnel Coordinator. I had no intension of getting into the human resources field but it seemed to fit me very well. One of my proudest accomplishments in state service was serving on the Governors Council on Physical Fitness for two years. We had a great time and helped a lot of state employees.
In 1999, I left state government, too much politics, and accepted a position of Employment Manager in the HR department of the Metropolitan Library System. I must say that I’ve found my home. I work in the beautiful new downtown library with a wonderful staff and a great environment. The atmosphere at the library system is one of family and unity. We have accomplished some wonderful goals and there’s much more to come. Fifteen years in human resources has given me focus on my education and I’m currently attending Southern Nazarene University where I hope to FINALLY complete my BA in Organizational Leadership in December of this year. After that I plan on either staying at SNU to obtain a Master’s Degree in Human Resources or the University of Oklahoma to complete a Master’s Degree of Library and Information Science.
In my personal life, I am divorced and have a wonderful 7 year old son named Justin. He is my greatest inspiration in life. I not only have a son but also a best friend. His mom and I could not make it as a married couple but we are doing a great job at being parents and friends. I’m still very active in sports, just not basketball like in high school. When I’m not working, studying or hanging out with my son you can usually find me playing racquetball competitively, wakeboarding, playing golf, scuba diving, or working out. I guess in a way I just refuse to completely grow up and I think my son likes it that way.

After graduating, I was extremely happy working a Wicks Lumber, in OKC, then like a lot of businesses, they closed and I needed to do something to support my brand new wife and daughter, so I joined the Air Force. Yes, I'm serving the greatest country in the world and will be looking at retirement (that's right retirement) in about one or two years...how many of you can say that? The Air Force has been great to our family and I have been all over the world. Some places I have seen include Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Panama, Turkey, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and a few others that I can't remember. Right now, I'm in charge of the Contingency Planning and Training office at MacDill AFB, FL. I know that probably doesn't mean much to you guys, unless you know that every person and piece of cargo that deploys to the Middle East comes through my office. It's a pretty big task for an office of seven. We have played a major role in the war, as well ensuring CENTCOM (the guys running the war) are where they need to be, when they need to be there! I did marry my high school sweetheart Anita (Lamaster) and we have two great kids...Elizabeth, a Sophomore at the University of South Florida, majoring in Elementary Education and Ryan, a Sophomore at Robinson High. In my down time, I work as a youth counselor at Bayshore Baptist Church and was ordained a Deacon in 1998. Life is great! Aim High! God Bless.
After high school, I continued working for Moore Auto Parts for another year. During this time, I took a Machine Shop course at Moore-Norman Vo-tech. After that I got a job at Glenco Enterprises as a machine operator, where we machined parts for Tinker AFB. I worked there for two and a half years until the company shut down and I was laid off. I then went to work at York International, where I have been for the last 17 years. On September 14, 1991, I married Robin Bradley (class of 83). We now have 2 wonderful children; Mikayla Ruby, age 5; and Dylan Michael, age 8. Both are very active, with Dylan playing soccer in Midwest City for the Patriots, and Mikayla winding up Upward cheerleading and starting the soccer season in Moore for the Pink Ladies. As you can imagine, this keeps us very busy, going in opposite directions. It sure is fun though. The entire family are huge NASCAR fans, and we go to the races in Texas every year. As for me, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and playing disc golf. I am also a huge NASCAR fan. It seems like only yesterday that we graduated. Where does the time go?? I just thought time went fast till we had kids. Now it goes by at a scary pace. Hoping to see my old friends and tell lots of stories!!
After graduation I attended El Reno Jr. College, mainly to see if I could play college baseball. After one year I decided it was time to settle down and do something in life. I worked at Fox Lumber Co. while attending OSU Tech here in OKC, in hopes of an Associates Degree in HVAC. While going to school I asked my high school sweetheart, Nikki Hensley, to marry me. Nikki worked at First National Bank downtown OKC in the Investment division since graduation. We married on June 4, 1988 and have been happily married ever since and live less than a mile from the Moore High School. I now work for Governair Corp. in OKC, were we build HUGE commercial HVAC units for hospitals, schools, shopping malls. I have been at Governair since Nov. of 89. We have three wonderful kids Ethan, who will be 14 in May, Kenzie 11, and Eryn 5. They keep us very busy along with being very active in our church, Suburban Baptist Church here in Moore. Nikki is the nursery coordinator and I teach 4th - 6th grade kids, also I run the sound system for the services.
I enjoy golfing & fishing when time allows. Ethan and myself attend every home game for, yes, OSU where I am part of the chain crew. Nikki has been a home maker since June of 94 after the birth of our second child. Being a stay-at-home mom of three kids is a full time job all in its self. She also enjoys reading books, baking and trying different recipes.
Although we haven't made a BIG CHANGE in the world, we feel like we are right where God wants us to be for this time in our lives. May God bless all of us and we will see all of the other MOORE-ons in July.
When I graduated High School the last thing I wanted to see was another book, test, form, or anything related to school. I had, had enough at the time. Oklahoma State was interested in me, but I said no way.
Two weeks out of high school I went to work for Anheuser Busch distributing in OKC. I started out part-time, mowing the grounds (about 2 acres) trimming the sidewalks etc, etc. I worked there for six years and did every job from mowing the yard, counting the route drivers money, to warehouse Shift Forman and many things in-between. During this time I was saving money (about 25K) to pay my way, to go to a Tech school in Florida. For those of you that visited my house on the weekends during this time, You all owe me a beer or two.
I went to school in Orlando in 1991. In 1992 with my Asc. degree in hand (i did a two year course in 54 weeks, 8 to 12 hrs of class a day, 5 days a week) I moved to Arizona for a 16,000 dollar a year job. After not working for a year, while I went to school this seemed like a lot of money at the time. The Scottsdale Conference Resort was a good springboard for me. It let me practice my Audio and Video skills in a manner that was lucrative for my future. This was no average Resort. It was set up to cater to fortune 500 companies like NIKE, Johnson & Johnson, Land Rover, Siemens, Phillips, NASCAR, ect.
From there, through a contact I had made, I got a raise and went to work for EMG. An educational co. that did Live Custom Curriculum Educational Programming via satellite directly to classrooms. This was the greatest job a guy like me at the time could ask for. When I started, there were about 25 people and two studios in the building. I was hired for my knowledge of their studio equipment, cameras, audio boards, tape machines, audio/video routers ect. Three years later with over a dozen studios (which I had a large hand in constructing) and a couple of good raises, with just under 160 people in the building I was offered another job. I didn't really want to leave, but we had just been bought by Viacom, and well..... Let's just say that corporate structure and I don't really mix. So I left for the new job, not knowing what my future held.
I had acquired a good raise but, little did I know that I went straight from the frying pan to the fire. I was hired as a Maintenance Engineer on a brand new 8 million dollar fully digital remote broadcast truck. These are semi tractor trailers, 53' long and 12' wide, that require 3 phase 400 amp power feeds with 20 tons of air conditioning. Some of them expand out like a motor home and almost double their size. They are a remote TV studio on wheels. Full of cameras, Tape machines, Monitors, digital Graphics machines, digital video recording devices, ect. It was my job to keep it all running. I did this for the local Co. SWTV for about three years. Traveling from state to state, run and gun from Basketball in Denver to Hockey in San Jose to Baseball in Phx to a Soccer game in Dallas. You get the idea. I was averaging about 80hrs a week doing this. It went from bad to worse and long story short, I quit! I didn't know what I was going to do, I had nothing lined up, no contacts made (so I thought) no real plans for the future other than sleep in my own bed for a change. I had been home for less than 16hrs and the phone rings. Its ABC sports in NY, and I quote " We heard you quit your job, we would like to offer you a position on our college football package". This was all I heard before I hung up on them. They called back everyday for a week. I hung up on them every time they called. Finally I came around and talked to the man in charge.
He was only two dollars an hr short of doubling my pay, so how could I say no. I did three years of ABC Sports college football as their Mnt. Engineer. Traveled all over the country Miami, Alabama, LSU, Colorado, USC, UCLA, and yes even Norman just to name a few. All types of bowl games from the Sun bowl in El Paso to the Sugar, the Orange bowl and the Rose bowl. Then came the question I had been waiting for. "Jason would you be interested in building a TV truck for Golf, and taking it on the road to do our Golf package for ABC." Ohh yeah and another raise!! Well to say the least you could have knocked me over with a feather. The whole time I had been in TV, I really wanted to do golf. Go to sunny places, stay parked for 8 days instead of 3, be in the sunshine instead of cold and ice. So here was my chance. Five other Engineers and myself went to this huge TV Truck shop in NJ. and spent the month of January building the trucks that currently broadcast ABC Golf.
It has been a wild ride, but a great one. What use to take 12 months to earn now takes me 6. I use to work about 11 months out of the year, now I only work 7! It may sound like all fun and games, but believe me, it's hard work. I average between 80 an 100hr a week, about 4 to 6 hrs of sleep a day, and then on top of that you get to work in a live TV environment, it can be very stressful.
I have started my 5th year on the PGA tour for ABC this year, and so far so good. But as I have found in my character, it is time for a new challenge. I have started learning Tax and Real Estate Laws from a class I am taking. Looking to supplement my income so I can get that summer home somewhere besides AZ!
So, for those of you that must know. I have never been married, but was engaged.... it didn't work out. No kids or even pets. I had spent almost 9 years in Phoenix and then bought 5 acres and 2 houses about 20 miles outside of Tucson, in this little town called Vail. It's at the base of the Rincon Mnt's at about 3500', my little slice of paradise. No pets or horses, although it is a popular place for them, Im not home enough to take care of animals.
The future looks bright, I wish you all the best. I am not sure if I have a Golf Tournament during the reunion, but if I don't, Im there!
After graduation I entered the U.S Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg N.C. During this time I got married and was transferred to Fort Richardson Alaska. While stationed in Anchorage, Alaska my daughter Ashley (16yrs. old) was born. In October 1989 my 4 yrs. with the Army ended and I returned home to OKC.
I then applied for a job with the Oklahoma City Police Department. I was accepted into the police academy on March 16, 1990. My first marriage ended in 1991. That same year I began to date my current wife, Sherri. She was a dispatcher and I was riding the night shift on the south side of town and I fell in love with her before I met her. We dated until we got married on August 3, 1996. I was a little gun shy to jump back into a marriage, but I wouldn't trade her for the world.
On May 3, 1999 our home was leveled by the F5 tornado. Somehow during this time Sherri got pregnant and in March of 2000, my son Cooper was born. He is my newest best friend.
In January 2002 I opened my own Karate school. It was very successful, but very time consuming. I was never home and Cooper was growing up without me. Because of this I choose to close the school in August 2004.
I'm still with the Oklahoma City Police Department going on my 15th year. I'm currently working in the Detective Unit as a Sex Crimes Investigator. I'm also in the Air Force Reserves stationed out of Tinker A.F.B. I'm having the time of my life and looking forward to seeing everyone.
After HS, I didn’t do the college scene (I wish I would have, but at the time, I was just happy to be out of school) Over the years, I have gone through a couple of different occupations, but have found the one I will stick with. For the past 6 years, I have worked for AFLAC (yes the duck company) as an Associate, and don’t see any reason not to continue. It allows me freedom to have a family life, it provides a peace of mind, knowing that what I do helps others, and the income is not so bad either. ;)
I have been married twice. The 1st didn’t last long, but I have 2 wonderful boys to show for it. Matthew is 14 and Brandon is 12. I married Curtis Parker, (a crush from my teenage years) and will celebrate our 8th anniversary March 22. Curtis also had a son from a previous marriage, so I also have a stepson, Cody (10).
I have lived in Florida (briefly, but loved it), Texas for about 7 years (we hope to move back someday) but in 97 moved back to OK to be closer to family.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone and would love to hear from all my long lost friends or even make new ones, so feel free to contact me. Until then, God Bless you all.
Well, where do I start? Twenty years ago, I guess. I graduated from OU in 1990 with a BA in Communication. After college, my college boyfriend and I moved back to Oklahoma to be married. We were married for almost 7 years, and then divorced. The two, most rewarding parts of our marriage were the children we brought into the world. I have lived here in Moore (off 12th and Broadway) for the past 8 year with my children Josh and Samantha. Josh is 10 yrs old and Samantha is 9. I work at Southwest Airlines Reservation Center as a Supervisor of Staffing and Operations. (Yes, I fly free… J) I wouldn’t say that I have had an exciting life, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am the stereotypical “soccer Mom” and somehow keep things managed at work, yet, have the kids where they need to be on a daily basis. You remember… “I bring home the bacon, da, dun, ta, da,… Fry it up in a pan…” You get the message. We do squeeze in lots of fun times too. We travel a lot, and have become quite addicted to Maui for obvious reasons and can’t wait to go back. I can’t say that I have achieved any great awards, but we dedicated to do things right in life. We are happy, healthy, and keep moving forward.
I really can’t wait to see everyone. Tapping into the website has brought up many great memories. I love it that when I drive by the school, and remember things that weren’t quite done by the rules, and try to explain it to my kids in a constructive manner. By the way, how did all the sand appear in the courtyard on “Beach Day”? Or singing Def Leopard’s, Pyromania, “Watch the nights (knights) go up in smoke.” (We won that game if you remember.) Oh, to have only those kinds of worries again to deal with.
Anyway, I live the simple life (not like Paris Hilton, we live in Oklahoma), and love to enjoy it all!
Well guys when I was 18 I thought that people whom where approaching 40 where well (OLD). Now I Am not sure what is old, I’d really rather not put an age on it.
What I did after High School. I attended EOSC on scholarship, messed my knee up had surgery in Dec 85, returned to school, changed my major several times, quit running and throwing. The next year I attended NSU where again I changed my major, played softball (made the team), then withdrew from school. Then I embarked on the journey of life, promising myself however to one day return to school.
After several jobs I went to work as a Retail Manager working with them for nine years. I worked in OKC until 1995 then was transferred to Colorado (where I had always dreamed of living) where I worked for the company until 1998, when I decided that working 16 hours a day was not good on the body. So I stopped to smell the roses. Had fun, went camping, visited my relatives, traveled out west mainly, came home to visit (yes I was home when the May 3, tornado came through). My childhood home was destroyed but thank God no one was hurt. I worked at Denver International Airport for fun in the valet department. Meet many famous people (Trevor Price, Terrell Davis, Federico Pena, Scott Hamilton and many more).
Remember that promise I made myself well I had applied to Colorado State University had been accepted and was planning on attending in the fall of 1999. Well as it turns out that wasn’t to happen. Coach Hogan passed away in February of that year and while I was at the funeral I ran into Coach Becher. He offered me a scholarship to return to school as his asst. coach. Well I couldn’t pass that up so I packed up and headed to Hutchinson Kansas. I attended school for a semester. Well as it goes things change. I had a friend whom was blind and losing her hearing, so I packed up and moved to Claremore where I currently reside.
Well remember that promise I made to return to school. Well I am now a senior at Rogers State University here in Claremore where I plan to graduate next spring with a B.S. in Business Information Technology and a minor in Business Administration.
I have not married; have no children although I have helped raise a few. I have two wonderful Nephews, and two beautiful Nieces. My family consists of six doggies and three kitties. I work part time at a vet clinic. Bad place for me to work, I want to save them all.
Well all I can say is make sure you take the time to stop and smell the roses.
After graduation, I attended Rose State College for about 2 years. I transferred to OU (Go Sooners!) where I spent the next 5 years working on my Bachelor's degree. Yep, you added it right, that's 7 years for a 4-year degree. Hey, I had to work while going to school and I definitely had fun along the way!! Anyhow, I finally graduated from OU with a degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.
Since 1992, I've been working in OKC as an Electronics Engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). I've worked primarily on the development of navigation systems that utilize GPS satellites. It's been a ton of work but also a lot of fun. I've been fortunate in that I've traveled to some cool places (Norway, Germany, Russia, Canada, and others)!
As for my personal life, I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior in the Spring of 2001 (proud moment!) and attend New Life Bible Church in Norman. I spend my free time with friends/family and enjoy golfing, basketball, scuba diving, and hanging out with my 11-year old son (he's a frisbee-loving 4-legged furry thing with big ears). Although I hoped to be married with kids at this point in my life, it just hasn't worked out.
Wow, a lot has happened since May of 1985. I graduated from OU and then Yale Law School, then I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, for a year where I clerked for a federal court of appeals judge. When I finished that job, I spent a month in Guatemala and then moved to Washington, D.C., to begin my legal career.
My life as a practicing attorney included a stint as a federal civil trial attorney and then as a federal prosecutor, where I prosecuted violent crimes such as rape and homicide. During the end of the Clinton Administration, I served as the general counsel of the federal agency that regulates Indian gaming. When the Bush Administration took over Washington, I eventually sought cover in the Ivory Tower. Although I lived in Washington, D.C. and New Mexico for most of my legal career (and still have a house in New Mexico), I now live in St. Paul, Minnesota, and teach law at the University of Minnesota. My wife Libby (also an OU grad, but from Dallas) and I met in New Mexico in 1995. We were living in Washington when we got married (at a villa in Tuscany, Italy). When I fled Washington for the academy, I had a fairly easy time convincing Libby who was working as legislative counsel in the US Senate; Libby had been required to take a Cipro regimin following the anthrax scare at her office at the Hart Senate Office Building and we had lived through 9/11 in Washington (we lived fairly close to the Pentagon -- my office was near the White House, hers was on Capitol Hill). And if all that was not enough to convince my then-pregnant wife to leave her important work in Washington, the DC sniper catastrophe began while she was still in DC finishing up some legislative work and I was starting my first semester teaching.
Given all the excitement in DC, we are now happy to be back out in the relative safety of the provinces, even if we did choose a cold one(!). We travel an awful lot and we have two sons, Cole (age two-and-a-half), and Ford (seven months). We have embraced the culture and the weather up here in the North Country. We have season hockey tickets to the University of Minnesota's men's hockey games (the national champions in 2001 and 2002).
20 years, sounds like a long time, but not really. Unlike most I didn’t immediately go to college after Graduation. In April of 85 I enlisted in the OK Air National Guard (yes it was still while in High School). So in September 85 I went to Air Force Basic Training and Technical School for Information Systems Operator. When I came back in Feb 86 friends had moved or seemed too immature for me. Basic training makes a person grow up, and I got used to hanging out with people in their 20’s and going to clubs etc. So I started school at OKCCC, but only went for 2 semesters. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life so I went to work for the Air Guard full time in the communications flight.
I met my future husband Shawn McClintick (from SOKC) in the summer of 1987 and we got married in Aug of 1988. I was blessed with my son Andrew in 1989 and Johnathan in 1992. We bought our first house on St George in 1991 not a mile from my child hood home. Both boys went to Kelley Elementary where I had gone. Seems like life had gone full circle then. Our house was a lucky house as in Oct 98 there was a tornado that went one block east of us and totally destroyed some homes. And then in May 99 it was two blocks west of us with total destruction. The first one caused minor damage and the second we got a new roof, windows, fence, and above ground pool. But we were safe and had a semi-roof over our head. In 2001 we decided to build our own home in the Stone Meadows addition and add an addition to our family. In Nov 2001 our daughter Ashley was born. Our children are the light of our life, but I have to say having Ashley later I am much more patient with her than I was with the boys. Of course she is also spoiled rotten and daddy’s little girl. The boys don’t want for anything and are probably spoiled also, but they are good kids and don’t act spoiled. They both go to Brink this year and the youngest is trying out for football.
Career wise I worked for the Air National Guard full time until May 88. I then worked for Pratts foods on SW 74th from Sep 88 to April of 1990. Although it wasn’t a glamorous job it was a fun job. In April of 1990 I got a Federal Technician job with the Army National Guard and went from being a blue suiter in the Air Guard to wearing green in the Army Guard. I started out as a GS-5 communications operator to now as a GS-11 VOIP Systems Manager. I shifted jobs during this time but they all have to do with computers and networking. I went to Rose State for a while and lack one humanities class for my associates degree, but just don’t have the gumption to finish it. I started to get my MCSE but then my job changed to Information Assurance and Security, started working on Security ++ and CISSP and then they moved me to VOIP and now hopefully I will get to finish my Cisco Certifications before the job changes again. In April I hit 20 years of Military Service, but I’m not anywhere near retirement. I’m just a SGT/E-5 but hope to improve that in the next year. I have 15 + years of Civil Service as a Federal Technician and hope to continue till retirement. My husband also works as Federal Wage Grade Technician at Tinker so I guess you and call us a DOD (Department of Defense) family. I have been fortunate not to have been deployed in the last couple of years, but will go if I’m called.
In my off time I take care of my kids and animals. I have a cat, some mutts and 2 Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs (Swissys) of who I really enjoy. I showed my Swissy’s in AKC dog shows and finished my male (4yrs old) when he was 18 months old. I showed my female (2 yrs old) but as she grew up she just could not compete with the others so I don’t show her anymore, but we do drafting, obedience, back packing and I hope to do agility with them also. Hopefully in August my male will not be so goofy and actually impregnate my female so I can raise some Swissy pups. I also volunteer with VAW (Volunteers for Animal Welfare) at the OKC Animal Shelter. I help on clean up days; spay/neuter days, with adoptions at NW 63rd pet’s mart on the third Sunday of every month, and one Blazer/Yard Dawgs game every month. I also foster puppies that get turned into the shelter, but are too young to put up for adoption. It is rewarding to take home these 5-7 week old pups and watch them grow and then to help them find homes. Plus, I get a puppy fix, but don’t have to worry about keeping them all myself. In my ideal life I would live out in the country and take them all home with me, but since I can’t do that, I volunteer what time I can to help get them adopted so less animals will be put to sleep.
Well that’s my life, not as exciting as others, but it has been good to me. I haven’t really kept in touch with anyone from school, but I am looking forward to going to the reunion. Never knew there was a 10yr reunion or I would have been there.
What has happened in the last twenty years? After graduating high school, I started college at Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!!). After a year and a half I came home and continued college at the University of Central Oklahoma. I received a B.S. and then continued on to receive a Masters in Education. I worked in the Public Schools for three years as a Speech Language Pathologist. I then found a wonderful job with Early Intervention and have worked in that capacity for almost eleven years. By the time the five year reunion rolled around, I was getting ready to be married. Sadly, by the time the 10 year reunion came, my marriage went. The best part of the union was my wonderful son, Garrin. He is now 11 years old and in the fifth grade.
I lived in Moore and the surrounding area up until January 2004. My son and I have embarked on a new adventure. I received some information about working overseas doing the same job I was doing stateside. I decided to take the chance of a lifetime and move to Germany. It has been a wonderful life experience and has helped me to stand on my own. Garrin and I have been to Euro Disney in France, Belgium and Italy. Luckily, I have not been chased around a field by a groundskeeper like Kevin. I did get lost coming home from Belgium. What should have been a 4 hour trip turned into a 7 hour trip. I felt as if I were trapped on the SS Minnow.
I am the sports mom and enjoy watching basketball, soccer and baseball. I was volunteered to be the Webelos den leader and I have enjoyed watching the boys learn new skills. We will be going to France in April so that the boys can receive the Arrow of Light and cross over to Boy Scouts. The ceremony will be held on the beach of Normandy.
We plan to stay in Germany for another year and then return to the United States. We have not decided if we will return to Oklahoma or start an adventure in a new state. Take care and may God Bless you and your families.
Although it seems like a million years ago, after high school graduation I went to college at Oklahoma State University. I graduated with a MS in Sociology in December 1989. Shortly thereafter, I began working in mortgage banking---because nobody told me that Sociology was one of those degrees that you can’t really do anything with at the bachelors level. I made good money, but was still searching for something more... After all, I had went from a degree where I thought I would save the world, to crunching number for the big bucks.... Not exactly my forte, especially since I had aspirations to work for an organization like Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
I met my husband in 1990 when I went to a horse sale at the Heritage Place with one of my best friends, Susan Barringer. He was just the cowboy I was hoping for and we were married in September 1991. Still unsettled with a job in mortgage banking, I went back to college in 1996 to work on my Masters Degree in education-- with a focus on special education. I completed my degree in May 1997 and have been teaching 8th grade students with learning disabilities in the Norman Public School district ever since.
After 10 years of marriage, my husband and I finally decided we were ready to have a child and I gave birth to the most beautiful, blue-eyed, ornery, tenacious little cowboy in the world in April 2001. He is by far my biggest accomplishment in my entire life and the center of my world. There is nothing more important to me than my son. When you meet him I’m sure you will understand why----if he doesn’t pretend to be a cowboy gunslinger and shoot you first. He is also the reason that I put a little color on my hair!
I also teach scrapbook classes and have been doing so for 2 ½ years. When you have such a great subject to photograph, it just makes sense to scrapbook! This is my creative outlet and the way that I spend most of my free time. I have turned it into a small business where I do customized scrapbooks for others, make page kits for those who want to do it themselves and teach classes at Scrapbooks From the Heart and also privately.
I remain friends with many friends from high school; Wendy Madden, Kelly Bode, Susan Barringer, just to name a few. Who knew that some of the friends I made all those years ago would be so important to me now!
